Thomas Schmidt

Thomas Schmidt is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Oregon State University. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (1989) and a B.S. degree from the New College of the University of South Florida (1981).

He was on the Mathematics faculty at Widener University (1989-1994), a visiting fellow at the Center for Number Theory Research at Macquarie University in Sydney Australia (1991-1993), and a member of the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in Bonn, Germany (1998) and has visited the Institut de Mathématiques de Luminy several times.

He has been on the faculty of Oregon State University since 1993.

His research interests include various areas of number theory and algebraic geometry and their applications to coding theory and cryptography.
